LEWISTON — The Twisted Pegs Trio will perform at the Oasis of Music this Wednesday, May, 16 at Trinity Church in Lewiston, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Lorel Nazzaro (violin), Mark Nordberg (violin and viola) and Barbara Oliver (cello) delight in playing music that they and few others have heard before.

The Castro refers to the works of late-1600s Spanish composer Arcangelo Corelli in the Prologue to his Trattienimenti Armonici da Camera for two violins and basso continuo.

The Castro was a gift to Barbara shortly after the publication of the modern edition in Madrid in 1980. Thirty-seven years later, during a sight-reading session, the Twisted Pegs agreed that they could “play this music all day.” To their knowledge, this will be the first public performance of any of Castro’s sonatas in North America.

La Real Cámara released a recording of all ten sonatas in 2016.

Admission to the Oasis of Music is free. For more information call 344-3106.
