A crash on the Maine Turnpike in Scarborough caused significant traffic delays Tuesday morning.

The multi-vehicle crash was reported before 8 a.m. near Mile 40 northbound, between the Saco and Scarborough exits. Traffic backed up for at least six miles while first responders responded to the crash.

 The crash scene was cleared by about 9:15 a.m., according to an alert from the Maine Turnpike Authority.

Traffic was backed up for several miles on northbound side of the Maine Turnpike Tuesday morning. This view is looking south from the Flag Pond Road overspass webcam at 8:15 a.m..
