The jazzy blues sounds of George Gershwin and Cole Porter will echo through the Gendron Franco Center’s performance hall Saturday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, May 20, at 3 p.m. when the Maine Music Society Chorale presents “Favorites from the Great American Songbook.”  These songs written for musical theater and movies between the 1920s and 1950s are characterized by witty lyrics and delightfully surprising rhymes. With titles like “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” and “Just One of Those Things” by Cole Porter and “’S Wonderful,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” and “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” by George Gershwin, everyone will want to sing along.   For more information visit www.mainemusicsociety.org. Tickets are $20 for adult, $18 for seniors, $10 for students and under 12 free when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $2 more at the door.
