To the Editor:

Recently it was in the news that the Oxford Hills High School kitchen had to be shut down due to mice in the building. I just want to say that I have worked for SAD 17 Food Service in the past and that entire staff does an outstanding job in cleaning their kitchens, and they follow all food service sanitation guidelines.

They are a hard working team and are always inspection ready for when the State Health Inspector drops in. The State considers children in school a high risk population and expects stringent sanitation in schools and it is done there.

It takes the entire building staff to be aware of ways to prevent this because as much as Food Service can do their part, food items left out in the rest of the building fuel the problem.

So please do not judge the Food Service Program and Staff badly, they are the best we could want feeding our kids.
