Rep. Bruce Poliquin’s priorities are disgustingly out of line, as represented by his recent actions pertaining to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
Poliquin co-sponsored a $7 billion cut to CHIP, a program that supports 23,000 children in Maine and 9 million children nationwide. To make matters worse, the cuts come as a part of a $15.4 billion recessions package that is intended to make up for money lost due to recent corporate tax cuts.
Poliquin is quite literally endangering the lives of children in order to ensure that wealthy people like him do not have to pay their fair share of taxes. As one of his constituents, I refuse to condone this corrupt behavior, and I encourage my fellow Maine residents to do the same by voting Poliquin out of office in the coming midterm elections.
