Is this what we’ve come to? Is the slaughter of our children now so blase that we can yawn and shrug while thinking, “At least it wasn’t mine?” Thoughts and prayer aren’t working. The lead keeps flying, and the blood keeps flowing, and it appears we as a society don’t give a hoot. And a society that values the possession of firearms meant for war over the lives of its innocent sons and daughters is a sick society.
We’ve turned schools into locked prisons/fortresses, armed police patrol the halls, there is talk of arming the teachers, and we see this as normal? It is not normal. What will it take?
I was an National Rifle Association member for many years until it dawned on me what I was supporting. My membership was blood money, and that sickened me. When I realized the Republican Party had also sold its soul to the NRA, I unenrolled from the party. I won’t be a participant in the collapse of a decent society.
We must stanch the flow of our children’s blood or face the consequences. Solemn words and “prayers” read from a cue card are an insult. God is watching. And waiting.
