NORWAY — A giant flag painted on the side of the Danzig Painting business at 7 Harrison Road is a tribute to military service members and law enforcement officers, according to building owner Mike Morin.

The retired veteran, who served for 20 years, said he wanted to thank “all of our service members and law enforcement officers, especially ahead of Memorial Day.”

Underneath the flag are the words “Thank you for your service.”

“I’ve been in the military for half of my life,” Morin said. “I spent six years in the Army as Special Forces, and then served as an intelligence agent in the United States Air Force.”

He said he has always admired a house on Russell Street in Lewiston that has the American flag painted on the roof, and he thought the Danzig building was the perfect place to do something similar.

“Terry Swett of Swett Signs recommended a local artist named Cheryl Johnson to paint the flag on the side of the building, and I think she did a wonderful job,” Morin said.

“It really looks amazing, especially with the light on the building shining on it at night. People can see it from Pennesseewassee Lake.”

The lake is across from Harrison Road.

“I just think it’s a nice way to show respect to the flag,” Morin said.
