LEWISTON — Claire C. Aube, 67, of Lewiston died peacefully at her home on Monday, May 21. She was the beloved only child of Robert Arthur and Cecile Tardif Aube.

Claire was born in Lewiston on Oct. 9, 1950. She was a lifelong member of Lewiston’s Holy Family Church. She was an impressive individual who embraced the blessings and challenges associated with Down syndrome. She possessed an exuberant, enthusiastic personality and was able to both read and write in French and English. She also maintained a lifelong passion for country music and professional football.

She will be remembered for her quick wit, easy smile and sensitivity toward others. Over the past decade, Claire was the beneficiary of loving and tender care provided by the dedicated staff at Creative Work Systems. It would be impossible to overstate the positive impact Claire’s caretakers had on her well-being. In more recent times, she received additional valued care from Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice providers.

Claire will forever occupy a place in the hearts of her surviving family, including Ron and Madeline Martel, and Paul, Marc, Ray and Rosemarie Tardif. A very special gratitude is extended to Claire’s cousin and friend, Rosemarie Goodwin. Rosemarie provided Claire with unflinching attentiveness, affection and skilled coordination of care over the past 12 years.
