MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Richard Warren Talbot, 66, of Martinsburg, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 21, 2018, at his residence.

Born July 6, 1951, in Augusta, he was the son of the late Frederick Talbot and Elsie Brindley Talbot.

He was a 1969 graduate of Leavitt High School and a 1975 graduate of the University of Maine, Orono.

He is survived by two sons, Ross Talbot, Eric Talbot and fiancée Natalia; one daughter, Amanda Avila, and husband, Eddie; two grandchildren, Lucas and Lucille; two brothers, Steven Talbot and David Talbot; and two sisters, Barbara Sinclair and Margaret Carroll.

Richard’s life interests, in no particular order, were: spending time with his family (particularly his grandchildren), grilling, gardening, gadgets, cigars, weaponry, the game of RISK, Ansel Adams photography, history (especially Civil War era) and diverse types of music. He bled Budweiser, loved to drink Scotch and was a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan.

People would describe Richard as a quintessential salt-of-the-Earth Mainer — stoic and hardworking. He lived to tease, taunt and expected it in return. His relationships were of paramount importance, family was always No. 1 and friends a close second.

* Hey, Richard here … now it’s my turn to say something. To my siblings — I was always Mom’s No. 1. Long live the Light side, not the Dark side, Barb and Margie. Dave and Steve, don’t worry about stealing off my plate. I ate like kiwwah whale, I reave now!!! To my children — If you haven’t learned from the foundation I laid for you on how to love and support your family and how to be a productive member of society, I will choke you with my massive meat mitts and feed you to the nearest wood chipper.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.
