JAY — Police are investigating several reports of vehicle windows being shattered or shot out by BB’s on the Old Jay Hill Road over the Memorial Day weekend.

Windows and doors were damaged in five private vehicles, a bulldozer and two dump trucks owned by C.H. Stevenson Inc. of Wayne, Police Chief Richard Caton IV said Tuesday.

Three windows were damaged in the bulldozer, he said.

The company is rebuilding a section of Old Jay Hill Road to withstand heavy loads.

A ninth vehicle that was being driven on Route 4 near the Jay Transfer Station appeared to be struck on a door by a BB, which made a dent, Caton said.

In February and March, Jay and Livermore Falls police investigated several reports of damage  by BB’s, including to vehicles, a glass door at Franchetti’s Home Town Variety in Jay and residential windows in Livermore Falls.

Those cases remain unsolved.

Anyone with information regarding the holiday weekend’s incidents is asked to call the Jay Police Department at 897-6766.
