AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library has announced June activities for teens. Unless otherwise noted, programs are for teens, ages 12 to 18.

Maine Job Corps for Teens and New Adults, ages 16 to 24: This is for those interested in learning job skills. Contact Cathie Gavett of the Maine Job Corps at 207-458-5369 for more information and eligibility. She will arrange a time to meet at the library.

Teen Anime Club: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, in the Androscoggin Community Room. Teens are invited to watch this week’s selection of anime and try their hand at drawing characters. Snacks will be provided.

SAPARS Drop-In Visit: 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, in the Teen Space. Julia, an advocate from Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services, will be available to discuss important issues such as bullying, consent, sexual assault and harassment, bystander intervention and internet safety. Visits may include question-and-answer sessions, educational videos or activities.

Gaming Hour: 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, and 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 28, in the Androscoggin Community Room. There will be an Xbox 360 and Wii gaming consoles and a small collection of games. Teens are welcome to bring their favorites, but only those rated T and E. Those attending should note day and time change on June 28.

Vacation Celebration: 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, in the Teen Space. Teens are invited to celebrate the last day of school with ice cream sundaes and board games. Information will be available on the teen summer reading program, Libraries Rock.

Summer Matinee: “Jaws” (PG): 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 22, in the Androscoggin Community Room. “Jaws,” a 1975 classic film, is about a marine biologist and an old seafarer who team up to hunt down a great white shark wreaking havoc on a beach resort.

Q+A with Outright L-A: 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, June 25, in Conference Room. This program is for ages 12 to 17, including recently graduated seniors. The library has partnered with Outright L-A to offer Queers + Allies (Q+A), a youth-driven, educational program where LGBTQQAI-identifying students and straight allies can work together to create a positive, fun space. Q+A will create the opportunity for an open and relaxed atmosphere where teens can share in self-expression, exploration, support and advocacy for political and social change. There will be games, art projects, guest speakers, field trips and more. Participation counts toward program attendance for the teen summer reading program, Libraries Rock. 

Teens Summer Reading Program kickoff: 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, Conference Room. Learn about the program and listen to Chicks with Sticks steel drummers. Teens can listen to and learn about music and several showcase their musical talents.
