AUBURN — The Auburn Water District has hired Erica Kidd as watershed manager.

Her duties include overseeing Lake Auburn watershed protection activities and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, including the Safe Drinking Water Act and Maine Drinking Water rules, in order to maintain the existing waiver from water filtration.

She will oversee the management of watershed properties, as well as the lake water quality monitoring program. Other important duties include oversight of the Education and Outreach program and monitoring recreational activities.

Kidd has a master’s degree in environmental studies with a concentration in conservation biology, as well as professional experience with consulting work on resource monitoring, site inspections and permitting for projects. She has also taught courses on wetland ecology and hazardous algal blooms.

She lives in Freeport.
