RUMFORD — Dorina A. Bernard, 89, died peacefully April 17 at home, in the care of her devoted children.
She was born Oct. 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Richard) Martin of Mexico. Dorina was a 1946 graduate of Mexico High School, where she participated in basketball and school spirit as a majorette.
She married J.A. Olin Bernard on Oct. 20, 1947. He predeceased her in 2012.
Dorina was proud of her family, friends, home and French-Acadian heritage. She was traditional cook, known for her biscuits, breads and pies. She was a fastidious housekeeper; an avid knitter of socks, mittens and afghans; and a voracious reader.
She is survived by her sister, Alice Ceranowicz; brother-in-law, Eddie Bernard; and sister-in-law, Theresa Bourret; children Rachael Coleman; Olin E. Bernard and wife, Francine (Leblanc); and Martin P. Bernard; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 59 nieces and nephews.
