AUBURN — Dolores ‘Dee’ Schoendorf of Jay passed away Friday, June 1, at the Hospice House in Auburn, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born in Queens, N.Y., on July 13, 1956, living on Long Island for part of her childhood and later moving to East Haven, Conn. Dee was the youngest child, and the only daughter, of the late Jacob and Doris ‘Irene’ Schoendorf, having three older brothers, Jacob, Dennis and James Schoendorf, born before her.

Dee was an avid gardener, always observed in her yard planting flowers, vegetables or a new tree. She also had a knack for finding hidden gems at local yard sales. Dee enjoyed spending time on the beach combing for shells and sea glass, blue glass being her favorite. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson.

Dee was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Doris Schoendorf; and her three brothers, Jacob, Dennis and James Schoendorf. She was also predeceased by a cousin, George Schoendorf, who was raised as a brother.

She is survived by her longtime life partner, “husband” Robert “Bob” Curtis; her daughter, Regina, and her husband, Billy Hatch; and sons Richard Price and Robert Curtiss and companion, Kayla Blais. She is also survived by several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and many loving friends.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Mass General, specifically Dr. Abbas Kaharal, whose quality of care was impeccable.
