Keith Anthony Phillips of Lewiston was arrested later Wednesday on a charge of robbery. He was being held Wednesday night on $20,000 cash bail at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn.
Police said although no weapon was seen during the robbery, the suspect handed a teller a note demanding money and indicating he was armed. The robber was handed an undisclosed amount of money and then fled on a bicycle, according to police.
The bank reported the robbery to police at 12:02 p.m.
Police located Phillips within an hour at a Pierce Street apartment.
Phillips was arrested without incident, police said. The robbery charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Police officers, detectives and agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Central Maine Violent Crimes Task Force, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and area police departments coordinated in the search for the suspect.
