RUMFORD — When voters go to polls Tuesday, the final article on the town warrant will reference a loan of $1.37 million.

But Town Manager Linda-Jean Briggs said the issue is not the money because voters last November overwhelmingly approved borrowing it from the Maine Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund.

The reason for Article 43, an addendum to the warrant, is to provide the language necessary to borrow the money.

“What I’m very concerned with is that people might be confused and think we might be looking at another $1.37 million, and we’re not,” Briggs said. “It’s a requirement by the bond bank to provide specific legal language and the financial statement, just to finalize that appropriation,”

The bond will be used to finance new water and sewer mains in The Island business district.
