Several weeks ago, I met Jared Golden when he visited Kingfield. People were treated to an up-close and personal time with the District 2 candidate for the U.S. Congress. I found him to be surprisingly open, honest — a real straight-shooter. He had a good grasp of issues and listened to all sides before making a comment. Importantly, he stated that compromise is often necessary to achieve results.

Golden is popular in his hometown of Lewiston, having been supported by a great majority of voters when last elected to the Maine House. He is an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran, attended Bates College and has a law degree, all of which have served him well in his leadership position in the Maine House.

I believe Jared Golden understands the issues facing District 2 and will thoughtfully represent the residents’ concerns in Washington, D.C.

Cynthia Orcutt, Kingfield
