SOUTH PARIS — The W.J. Wheeler Insurance Agency will celebrate 100 years as a Maine corporation and 154 years in business at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the South Paris location, 15 Market Square.

Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlop will recognize the company for its longevity. The program will also include an open house and tour of recently renovated offices, and a $1,000 Referral Rewards drawing. Light refreshments will be provided.

After the program ends, the agency’s monthly “Introduction to Medicare” seminar will be held at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome, particularly those turning 65 within the next six to 12 months.

William Jordan Wheeler founded the agency in 1864 in South Paris. The company moved into the Billings Block in Market Square in 1898 and incorporated in 1918. Wheeler’s great-great-grandson, Michael Newsom, runs the agency.
