LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen will meet July 17 to discuss what to do about two budget articles that failed at the polls June 12. There will be no board meeting July 3.

Voters rejected warrant articles in the administration budget of $283,291 by a vote of 262-248 and the elected officials budget of $39,153 by a vote of 267-243.

Selectmen will determine next month whether they will bring the articles back in a referendum at the polls or at a town meeting.

Board Chairwoman Heather Bronish, who was re-elected chairwoman Tuesday, said the board was not prepared to make decisions on the articles or the type of vote that will take place.

It was interim Town Manager Stephen Gould’s first selectmen meeting since he returned to work Monday following heart surgeries.

In other business, the board voted 4-0 to appoint former Selectman Tom Barker to the Planning Board. Barker lost his bid for re-election to Sarah Flagg on June 12.

Selectman Rod Heikkinen abstained from the vote; Selectmen Nixon Ortiz, George Cummings, Flagg and Bronish approved the vote.

Selectmen also voted to set the sewage flow percentage rate for the Livermore Falls share at 37.6 percent. Jay selectpersons set Jay’s share at 62.4 percent June 11.

The percentage is based on the sewage flow from Jay treated at the Livermore Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Jay and Livermore Falls share the cost of the operation and maintenance of the plant based on the flow rate. Livermore Falls owns the plant.

The board also approved the annual agreement of costs shared between the towns.
