At the close of last evening’s program at the meeting of the Edward Little alumni, Donald D. Garcelon, president of the association, presented John F. It’s taken some time, almost 20 years, but there will soon be a full-fledged playground in the area behind Longley Elementary School and the Multi-Purpose Center. Work on the playground, including a basketball court, tether ball pole, swings, soft-surface recreation area and a lawn, was started last week and is expected to be completed in time for school in September. The new arrangement more than doubles the size of the school’s current outdoor recreation space, replacing an old set of monkey bars and rusted slide that no longer conform to safety standards. The project will be paid for by a $90,000 Community Development Block Grant and supplemental funds from the city and School Department.
