LIVERMORE — Selectpersons elected their board chairman and vice chairman Monday evening and appointed two Regional School Unit 73 directors.

Selectman Mark Chretien was elected chairman and Wayne Timberlake vice chairman. Selectmen Tom Gould and Benjamin Guild were not present.

Selectpersons unanimously voted to appoint Shannon McDaniel and Steven Langlin to one-year terms on the school board.

Town Clerk Renda Guild said the two positions weren’t filled during the recent election.

“Shannon served last year, did an amazing job,” Guild said. “She’s offered to come back and do another year. Steven is a Livermore Falls High School graduate in his 20s. They were two of the highest write-ins.”

Tim Walton, who received the most write-in votes, can’t serve on the school board because his wife is a substitute teacher in the district.

The board unanimously approved the purchase of a 500-pound compactor from Jordan Equipment for $5,900. It will replaces a 2001 250-pound compactor which was rebuilt in 2014.

Highway Department Foreman Roger Ferland said there is money in this year’s budget for the purchase.

The board agreed to send out requests for proposals to shim and overlay sections of Robinson and Strickland Ferry roads.

Administrative Assistant Amy Byron said she advertised similar work in previous years and only received one bid.

Byron said the Town Office will close at noon on Friday, June 29, to close out town books for fiscal year 2017-18.
