WILTON — For those seeking a change in careers or a new job, the Wilton CareerCenter will offering programs for job-seekers in July.

 All workshops and events are held at the CareerCenter unless otherwise noted. To register for sessions held at the CareerCenter, call 207-645-5800.

“The summer tourism season provides plentiful opportunities for Maine workers to find jobs best suited to their skills,” Gov. Paul R. LePage said. “Our record-low unemployment means employers are searching for applicants; I encourage you to visit any CareerCenter for help searching for a new or better job. They will work with you to improve your resume and interview skills.”

Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation – 9 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 5: This is an orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Orientations at the Wilton CareerCenter are held the first Thursday of the month. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Registration not required.

MEOC-101-Essentials of College Planning – 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, July 18: This workshop introduces people to educational opportunities in general and MEOC services in particular. This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career and study skills. The financial aid portion of this workshop will provide an overview of financial basics and the completion of the Free Application of Federal Student Aid. Rumford Area – Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation – 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, Region 9 School of Applied Technology, 377 River Rd, Mexico: This is an orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Orientations are held the third Wednesday of the month. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Registration not required.

Small Business Training: Small Business Administration will be offering three workshops: Starting Your Own Small Business, Access to Capital and Federal and State Resources for Small Business.

CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, internet access and ONet software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.

The Wilton CareerCenter, 865 U.S. Route 2E, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Staff work directly with employers, educational institutions and other stakeholders on their needs for a quality workforce during the rest of the week.
