AUBURN — Cynthia “Cindy” Canterbury, 65, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Rumford, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 24, at the Hospice House in Auburn, with loving family at her side.
She was born in Rumford on Oct. 7, 1952, a daughter of John and Faylene (Locke) Austin.
Cindy was a graduate of Stephens High School. She married Earl Canterbury on Dec. 24, 1978. She was employed as an interior decorator, a job she truly loved and was great at.
Cindy loved hosting family and friends; it was her favorite thing to do. She enjoyed making her loved ones happy and comfortable. She was an amazing cook and would feed friends, family and visitors who would rave over her special dishes and enjoy the beautiful homes she kept; she also loved playing bingo with her friends.
Cindy had a heart of gold and was the most amazing wife, mother and daughter. She spent every day for an entire year while her mother Faylene was ill, taking care of her every need.
Cindy had a smile and personality that shone brighter than the sun itself.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Earl Canterbury, of Pensacola, Fla.; children Sandra Dickie and husband, Troy, of Turner and Melissa Campbell of Turner; three brothers, Greg Austin of Weld, Preston Austin and wife, Diane, of Mexico and Stephen Austin of Carthage; and two grandchildren, Jared Dickie of Turner and Sydnee VanHorn of Turner.
She was predeceased by her parents.
