MEXICO — A couple from New York were injured in a collision at Main Street and Veterans Memorial Bridge on Monday afternoon, police officer Eric Bernier said.

Gary Bulman, 73, of Port Gibson, New York, and his wife, Diane Gibson, 58, were taken by ambulance to a hospital for chest and leg injuries, respectively, the officer said.

Bulman was the driver of a 2018 Chrysler sedan.

The other driver, Israel Legassie, 42, and his 12-year-old son, both of Fairfield, were in a Toyota 4Runner and were not injured, the officer said.

“The Chrysler was headed eastbound and the Toyota was headed westbound making a left onto Veterans (Memorial) Bridge, and the Toyota that was making a left-hand turn failed to yield for oncoming traffic and struck the Chrysler,” Bernier said.
