Chainsaw artists at Maine Wildlife Park

GRAY — Local chainsaw carvers will create eagles, bears and more at the Maine Wildlife, turning a a block of wood into a work of art. 

Ron Carlson, Tim Pickett, Dan Burns and Greg Waters will have a variety of chainsaw wildlife carvings on exhibit Saturday, July 21, on Route 26.

NORWAY — The friends and members of The Weary Club will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 21, for coffee and a time to catch up. 

Legion plans ‘toll road’ fundraiser

OXFORD — Anderson Staples Post 112, American Legion, will hold a “toll road” fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21.

There will be toll booths located on King Street just in front of the Legion headquarters at 169 King St. and another booth at the corner of King Street and Skeetfield Road.

Tolls collected are to benefit the Legion’s Homeless Veterans Program and the Veterans Stand Down. Checks may be payable to “Anderson Staples American Legion Post 112.”

Rumford church raising money for steeple

RUMFORD — The Rumford Point Church is hosting two fundraisers for its steeple project.

A concert by Hanover native Lisa Ramsey Ferguson and the Sandwich Rangers of Conway, New Hampshire, will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the church.

On Friday, Aug. 3, the Rumford Point Church and Gardner Roberts Memorial Library in Hanover will co-host Pie Night at the church at 6 p.m. Those attending are invited to bring a pie, eat pie and visit with friends and neighbors.

Donations to the Church Steeple Fund will be accepted.

A handmade photo quilt of the Hanover/Rumford area is being raffled in September. Tickets are available at the Hanover Town Office, the Gardner Roberts Memorial Library and from church parishioners.

Pinkham performing at Dixfield church

DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Common Baptist Church will host Travis Pinkham in concert for an evening of Gospel music at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 22.

Pinkham is a singer/songwriter from Wilton and has produced several CD. He specializes in country, but also does worship type songs.

Invasive plant identification workshop

CHESTERVILLE — “Invasive Plants in Your Woods and Fields — How to Recognize and Control Them” will be presented at 7 p.m. Monday, July 23, Chesterville Center Meeting House, 3 Borough Road.
