FARMINGTON — A local woman was injured when she was struck by a pickup truck Thursday morning while walking in a crosswalk on Oakes Street, police said.
Deedra Doiron, 31, of West Farmington was crossing from Bridge Street to Temple Road by way of the Oakes Street crosswalk at about 9:29 a.m., Farmington police officer Darin Gilbert said.
A 2007 Chevrolet 2500 truck driven by Toby Hellgren, 64, of Temple was on Temple Road and took a right onto Oakes Street. He said he didn’t see Doiron, Gilbert said.
Doiron suffered broken bones, was taken by a NorthStar ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington and was transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland. The injuries were not life-threatening, Gilbert said.
The truck, owned by Hellgren, had Hellgren Logging on the driver’s side door.
Hellgren was issued a summons on a traffic violation of failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
