To The Editor:
I have been meaning to write this letter for years now and after hiking Albany Mountain last week, I realized I really needed to follow through with this note of gratitude.
I would like to thank Eric Rathbun, from Norway, for the incredible trail work he has done on Albany Mountain. He has made it one of the most special places in our area.
It is my “go to” hike because it is close by and offers the most spectacular views. It is also a trail that is beautifully maintained with amazing stone work, all thanks to Eric.
Eric adopted the trail from the White Mountain National Forest in 2011. Since then, he has spent countless hours out there moving dirt to make the trail more level and creating wonderful steps that make the hike up so much easier and safer.
Almost every time I hike the mountain, I come across Eric toiling away. He wipes the sweat from his brow and gives a cheerful salutation to me and my dog. If you are out there, make sure to give him a huge thanks.
He is quietly making our community an even more beautiful place. I know I am extremely thankful for his work.
