AUBURN — Lennice Dorothy Godbout left peacefully for Home on Monday, July 16, surrounded by her loving children.

Leni was born in Hartland on May 17, 1938, to Lennice and Norma Harris. She grew up on Taylor Pond in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School, where she met and later married her lifelong love, Lionel R. Godbout.

Leni had a deep love of her family, friends, and gardening. Her life’s motto, “Bloom where you’re planted,” was reflected in her daily interactions with family and friends. She and Red settled down in Minot, where they faithfully raised their four children. She had a blessed life working, playing badminton, and reading Agatha Christie mystery novels. Leni instilled a sense of fair play and compassion in her children while playing board games and reading to them.

Upon Red’s passing, Leni moved from Minot into Barker Mill Arms Apartments in Auburn, where she fostered many close friendships and tended a flower garden.

Leni is survived by her four children; Daphne, David, Debora and Daniel; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the professional and kind staff at Schooner Estates and Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn for making our Mom’s last two years comfortable and peaceful.
