MECHANIC FALLS — At least one person remained hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash last week on Route 124, police said Monday morning.

Sgt. A. James Daigle of the Mechanic Falls Police Department said it appeared Adrien Ainaire, 17, of Mechanic Falls failed to yield the right of way to Kolby Woods, 21, of Minot last Wednesday, just before 3:30 p.m.

“Currently, there are conflicting stories of whether he stopped at the stop sign or not,” Daigle said. “(Ainaire) attempted to make a left off Bucknam Street onto North Main Street (Route 124) in front of Kolby.”

Ainaire had four passengers, including his sister, Casey Ainaire, who owns the Honda Civic Adrien was driving, and three juveniles in the backseat, including an infant.

All three juveniles were properly buckled in, Daigle said.

Woods had one passenger, Alexander LeBlanc, in his Toyota Highlander.

The infant was taken by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland, and Ainaire was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, then flown by helicopter to MMC.

Daigle said Ainaire remained hospitalized Monday. The officer said he had been told the infant’s condition was stable, but was unable to confirm if the child remained at the hospital.

A hospital spokesman had no details on Ainaire’s condition.

Lewiston police, the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police helped reconstruct the accident. It remains under investigation by Mechanic Falls police.

No charges or summons had been issued as of Monday.
