PARIS — The Oxford County Regional Airport will receive $210,710 from the federal government to install a 4,360-foot fence around the airfield.

According to a news release from the office U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, the funds are part of a $10.5 million grant awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program.

The perimeter fence will “deter unauthorized persons and vehicles from entering onto the airfield,” according to the release.

“Maine’s airports are vital pieces of our state’s infrastructure that promote economic and industrial development throughout the surrounding communities,” Collins said in the release. “These investments will allow the airports to make much needed improvements to their taxiways and runways, improving the safety and efficiency of operations.”

Other airports that received funding include:

• Bangor International Airport, $6,385,666 for taxiway reconstruction;
