AUGUSTA — Erwin “John” Weymouth Tarr, 68, of Litchfield died Tuesday, July 24, at Togus Springs Hospice at VA Maine Healthcare Systems.
He was raised in Leeds, graduated from Leavitt High School and proudly served during the Vietnam War from June 30, 1967, until being honorably discharged June 12, 1970.
John met and married Susan Corbin on Feb. 19, 1971, at the Winthrop Congregational Church.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Tarr, of Winthrop; his four children and their families: Angela Vannah and her husband, Darryl, of Litchfield and their children Karla, Kody and Kacie; Erwin “Ray” Tarr of Litchfield, and his children Joshua and Justin, and his wife, Roxie; and Jennifer and Jennifer’s children James and Athena, Jacqueline and Lewis, and her husband, Dave, of Winthrop, and their daughters Allison and Valerie; and Leanne Tarr and her partner, Michael Stone, of Litchfield, and their son, Jackson; sisters Lauraine, Ellen and Shirley; and brothers Robert and Dwynald.
