LEWISTON — Joseph C. Blais, 91, of Greene died Wednesday, July 25, at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.

Joseph was born in Lewiston on Feb. 24, 1927, to the late Lionel and Clara (St. Laurent) Blais. He attended local schools, graduating from Lewiston High School, and then entering the U.S. Army, serving as a staff sergeant in the Korean conflict.

He married Rita Morin of Augusta. He was a 47-year employee of Northern Utilities. Joseph enjoyed reading, collecting, telling stories, conversing in both French and English and caring for his animals.

Joseph is survived by his three sons: Marcel Blais and his wife Janice, of Herman; Ronald Blais and his wife, Jean, of Dresden; and Philip Blais and his wife, Deanna, of Greene; three grandchildren: Brian and Spencer Blais and Amanda Mackellar and her husband, Andy; and two great-grandchildren: Lux and Mila.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Rita Blais.
