LISBON — Two drivers were taken to a Lewiston hospital after a head-on collision on Route 196 Wednesday morning.
Lisbon police officer Jeff Picard said a 2007 Toyota RAV4 driven by 23-year-old Abigail Krolak, with a last known address in Brunswick, was headed east on Route 196. It crossed the centerline into the path of a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Thomas Twist Jr., 41, of Waldoboro.
Both drivers were alone and were taken to Central Maine Medical Center with injuries that didn’t appear life-threatening, Picard said.
Picard said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The crash happened in front of the post office at 8:07 a.m.
Another crash on Route 196 on Tuesday afternoon at 723 Lisbon St. backed up traffic near Crafts Cars in Lisbon Falls.
Lisbon Detective Sgt. William Tapley said a westbound 2003 Jeep Liberty driven by James Rowe, 48, of Durham was hauling a 16-foot boat and stopped in traffic.
Ralph Williams, 61, of Topsham was driving a 2003 Ford Econoline van westbound and didn’t see the van stopped in traffic in front of him because the sun was in his eyes, Tapley said. The impact broke the tongue of the boat trailer and pushed it into the Jeep, he said.
Williams was transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick for a complaint of pain.
