On the heels of a career-first complete game, Portland Sea Dogs starting pitcher Kyle Hart was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Aug. 5.
Hart threw a two-hit shutout Thursday in the second game of a doubleheader, which the Sea Dogs won in seven scheduled innings.
The Double-A rookie evened his record to 7-7 with the win, and he currently sports a 3.78 ERA in 19 starts. Hart was a 19th-round pick by the Boston Red Sox in the 2016 draft out of Indiana University.
He is the first Sea Dog to be named the EL’s pitcher of the week in a calendar year, since Teddy Stankiewicz garnered the honors for the week ending Aug. 7 in 2017.
