NORWAY — Rosella Drake Walker, 98, of Norway died early Sunday afternoon, Aug. 5, at the Norway Center for Health & Rehabilitation.

She was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Canton, a daughter of Francis and Eva (Briggs) Drake.

Rosella worked most of her life in local shoe shops. Her last position was at Wilner Wood Products, which was close to her home on Alpine Street.

She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Oxford, and enjoyed quilting, gardening and playing bingo.

Rosella will be remembered for her fierce independence and reluctance to ask for help. She once even remodeled her entire home with only the help of “how-to” books. Although she never achieved it, she aspired to become a nurse and came to understand the importance of education and a sense of independence, which she was happy to pass on to her four daughters.

She will be remembered for her strong will and independence.
