LEWISTON — A young man was seriously injured early Friday morning on Knox Street.
Police responded to an area in front of 94 Knox St. where a man was lying on his back in the street, unresponsive, with an apparent head injury.
The incident was reported around 1 a.m. By the end of the day Friday, it still remained unclear whether the injury was the result of an accident or if it was suspicious in some way.
The injured man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center. His condition was not available later Friday. His wounds were not believed to be life-threatening.
Police did not identify the victim.
According to Lewiston Lt. David St. Pierre, the incident was under investigation and very little information was available Friday night.
“At this point it is unclear what led to or how the male was injured,” St. Pierre said.
