CHESTERVILLE – Friends and families gathered under blue skies Saturday for the 2nd Annual Chesterville Family Fun Day and parade. It was a day filled with exceptional food, lively music and fun activities.
Event Coordinator Kim Lessard said, “Prior to last year, we had not had anything like this in 20 years. It was high time we did something.”
Parade participants embraced the ‘Movie’ theme, choosing favorite characters and scenes from a variety of genres. Picking winners was a difficult task for judges, who were randomly chosen from among spectators just minutes before the parade started, said event volunteer Josette Billian.
North Chesterville Baptist Church took third place with “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”; Chesterville Heritage Society earned second; and the “Wild Hogs” entry took first.
Awards were also presented to Chesterville Meeting House for Best Walking Entry and Dutch Gap Auto for Best Antique entry. “E.T” took home the ribbon for Best ‘Other’ entry.
Twenty-three participants took part in the 5K, said organizer Patty Hastings. Trevayne Jackson of Farmington took first place with a time of 20:24. Dillon Gray came in second with 23:34 and Kevin Jackson finished third with a time of 24:22.
“The Town Selectmen, committee members, and numerous volunteers have worked hard to assure that today our community can come together to have fun and create memories with friends, family, and neighbors,” Billian stated.
