‘Mainers on the Titanic’ book talk
HEBRON — Mac Smith will talk about his book “Mainers in the Titanic” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the Hebron Town Office, 351 Paris Road.
The public is invited.
Harrison Lions poker tourney
HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club will hold a Texas Hold’em poker tournament on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the VFW Hall on Waterford Road.
There will be a $55 entry fee. Doors will open at noon with starting time at 1 p.m.
Players may bring their own drinks. Food and refreshments will be available.
The proceeds will be used to help support local programs such as senior dinners, Christmas for kids, and scholarships.
Old Home Sunday at Reeds Mill Church
MADRID — All are welcome to Old Home Sunday at Reeds Mill Church on Sunday, Aug. 26. This non-denominational Church in the Wildwood celebrates not only the founding fathers of the church but all who have made the ongoing ministry of this church possible.
A potluck picnic will be at noon, rain or shine. Those attending should bring a place setting, beverage and a dish to share. The worship service starts at 1 p.m.
As has been tradition for the last several years, the Rev. John Gensel of the Dixfield Congregational Church will be the guest speaker. This will be the last summer worship service for this year.
The remaining 2018 special gatherings are Hymn Sing at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9; Sandy River Ramblers concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30; Thanksgiving at 10 a.m. Thurs., Nov. 22; and a candlelight service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23.

Farmington Falls bridge history
FARMINGTON — Farmington Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, at North Church.
The program will be “Preserving the History of Farmington Falls Bridge,” presented by Jane Woodman. Everyone is welcome. The short meeting will follow a potluck dinner.
