BETHEL — A West Paris man suspected in 10 burglaries over 18 days since late July was located and arrested on warrants Tuesday afternoon in Bethel, according to Chief Roy Hodsdon of the Mexico Police Department.
Hodsdon said an arrest warrant had been issued Friday for Heith Bernard, 41, who was wanted on charges of burglary, theft and violation of conditions of release.
Hodsdon announced the arrest through email and the department’s Facebook page, thanking the public for the tips received throughout the search.
Hodsdon said the burglaries all occurred within a half-mile radius, along Swett Avenue, Roxbury Road and Ledgeview Street. A number of those break-ins took place late at night while residents were asleep.
Bernard was booked Aug. 7 at the Oxford County Jail in Paris, charged by Dixfield police with burglary and possession of burglary tools, and Aug. 13 by Mexico police on a charge of violating bail conditions.
