FARMINGTON — Franklin County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a string of burglaries in the Carthage-Weld area that began in May and continued until mid-August, according to Lt. Detective David St. Laurent.
Deputies are working with state, Mexico and Rumford police to determine if there is a link to several burglaries that occurred in Mexico over 18 days since late July.
There have been seven burglaries in the Carthage-Weld area that have occurred mostly at unoccupied camps on back roads, St. Laurent said.
Interviews are being conducted with witnesses.
Mexico Police Chief Roy Hodsdon said Tuesday a suspect in the 10 Mexico burglaries was arrested on warrants Tuesday afternoon in Bethel.
Heath Bernard, 41, of West Paris was arrested on warrants alleging burglary, theft and violation of conditions of release.
Anyone with information on the burglaries Carthage or Weld should call the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 207-778-2680.
