BRUNSWICK — Maine State Music Theatre announces their shows for the 2019 season.

“Sophisticated Ladies” — June 5-22. With the largest tap dance sequences since 2017’s “Newsies” and 2018’s “Singin’ In the Rain,” the show is a celebration of the jazz legend Duke Ellington.

“Treasure Island” — June 26-July 13. Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale comes to musical life set to a majestic and exhilarating score. This new version of the show was created by MSMT Artistic Director Curt Dale Clark and well-known director Marc Robin.

“Hello Dolly!” — July 17-Aug. 3. This Broadway hit brings humor, romance, high-energy dancing and some of the greatest songs in musical theater history. 

“The Wizard of Oz” — Aug. 7-24. The entire family will delight in lavish costumes, spectacular sets and popular songs like “Over the Rainbow” and “The Merry Old Land of Oz.”

The following shows are part of MSMT’s Monday Performance Series.

“Walkin’ the Line: A Tribute to Johnny Cash” — June 17. Maine native Scott Moreau relives the amazing songs of Johnny Cash in this electrifying tribute to the Man in Black.

“Lettin’ the Good Times Roll” — July 1. This cabaret concert is an electrifying evening of jazz, blues, gospel and show tunes, featuring return performer E. Faye Butler and Tony-nominated Broadway star Felicia P. Fields. 

“The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” — July 29. This show is about the Oscar-, Grammy- and Tony-winning composer of some of the world’s best-known musicals. The show includes much-loved standards from “Phantom of the Opera,” “Cats,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Sunset Boulevard” and more.

The following shows are part of the Theatre for Young Audiences series.

“Snow White” — June 12 and 15. This show is Robin and Clark’s modern retelling of the legend originally published by the Brothers Grimm.

“Three Little Pigs” — July 8. Three little superstar piglets, their devoted single-parent mum and a misunderstood big bad wolf help make this perfect for young audiences.

“The Little Mermaid” — Aug. 19. Robin and Clark’s version is an original take on the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.

All series are available as subscriptions at discounted rates. Single tickets to all shows go on sale in April. All of MSMT’s summer performances take place at the Pickard Theater on the campus of Bowdoin College, 1 Bath Road.
