River paddles scheduled in Paris

PARIS — The Paris Parks and Recreation Committee will host paddling excursions on the Little Androscoggin River from 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 8 and Oct. 13.

Kayakers and canoeists are invited to enjoy an afternoon of exploring the Little Androscoggin. Kayaks will be available for those who do not have one.

The town leases the Paris Utility District property at 1 Paris Hill. People are invited to not only access the river, but bring a picnic or walk the property and photograph the abundant wildlife.

Whistle Stop Trail Toy Run

FARMINGTON — The Whistle Stop Trail 22nd annual Toy Run will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Registration will be between 8 and 9:45 a.m. at the end of the Whistle Stop Trail off the Town Farm Road in Farmington.

JAY — AVCOG Western Maine Environmental Depot announces the Household Hazardous Waste Day for Jay, Leeds and Livermore Falls from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Jay Transfer Station, 672 Main St.

Mexico Cemetery Group to elect officers

MEXICO — The annual Meeting of the Farrington Morton Cemetery Association will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Mexico Congregational Church conference room. Election of officers and other pertinent business will be the agenda.

RUMFORD — The monthly meeting of American Legion Auxiliary 24 will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, at the American Legion located at 184 Congress St.

The potluck dinner will be at 5 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6 p.m.

Daughters of Isabella to meet

RUMFORD — St. Timothy’s Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Holy Savior Parish Hall. Chairpersons are Roxanne Gorham and Billie Koris. Committee members are Cheryl Cox and Stacy Arsenault.

The Daughters will celebrate 25-plus years of membership with members Pearl Murphy for 66 years; Janette Blouin, 41 years; and Pierrette Bolduc, 41 years. Deceased member Mary Buccina will be remembered.
