DEAR SUN SPOTS: I sent you a request for a lost walking cane the other day. I didn’t realize that it was lost in Norway. It fell off the car at St. Catherine’s Church on Beal Street off Main Street. DEAR SUN SPOTS: We’re looking for a repair person for a Model 1000 Gen 3 Quartz Infrared Portable Heater. We would appreciate any help.

ANSWER: Do any Sun Spotters know of anyone who does these kinds of repairs? Jackie, your best bet may be to contact the manufacturer and if the heater is under warranty you could return it to them and have it repaired or replaced. It’s a shame, but many of these types of items aren’t made to last like they used to and there certainly aren’t an abundance of repair people around with the knowledge to repair small electrical equipment. Oftentimes, it’s less expensive to buy a new gizmo than to pay for a repair, if you can even find someone to do it. 

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I watch Channel 8 a lot. The Toyota commercial for the “clearance event” has a woman dressed in black and red. She is so good doing that commercial. I was wondering what her name is. She recently had a baby. Was it a boy or a girl?

ANSWER: Oh, you Sun Spotters never cease to keep me entertained. When I open my email in the morning, I never know what you’re going to ask about or what stories you’re going to share. Every day I learn something new!

Laurel Coppock, affectionately known as “Toyota Jan,” is adorable in those commercials and has quite a large following. She has appeared in TV series such as “Modern Family,” “Hot in Cleveland” and “The Office.” She is also known for her role in the 2011 movie “Crazy, Stupid, Love” and is a member of The Groundlings comedy troupe. She is married to actor, writer and producer Bobby Mort.

I scoured my resources and have found that neither Laurel nor Toyota has released any recent information to the media regarding the actress’ personal life. We’ll just have to be patient and wait to see. If anyone knows anything about the addition to “Toyota Jan’s” family, please be sure to share!

And by the way, did you know Laurel was a member of Colby College’s Class of 1999? While there, she was an esteemed member of the “Colbyettes.”
