Michael Menes, billed as “The Thinking Man’s Juggler,” will bring his mix of contortionism, spontaneous visual humor, quick change and crafty illusion to the Celebration Barn Theater at 8 p.m. Sept. 25. Menes, who has performed from Singapore to Barcelona, is described as “a poly-kinetic performance artist who juggles ideas and idiosyncrasies, escalators and elevators, bowling balls and tubular bells.” Last year’s performance by Menes at the Celebration Barn was sold out, so reservations are recommended. This year he will present new works featuring gizmos, contraptions and special effects. Menes has an extensive background in dance and theater. He’s trained with masters Tony Montanaro and Michael Moschen and was awarded state fellowship grants in 1987 and 1990 by the New Jersey State Council on the arts. This summer he was given the Founders Award by the International Jugglers Association in recognition of artistic excellence. Menes recently returned from television work in Portugal and cruises to South America, the Caribbean and Alaska. When not on tour, he makes his home in Buckfield. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. at the Celebration Barn, which is at 190 Stock Farm Road off Route 117. Tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 for children, 12 and under. For more information or reservations, call the box office at 743-8452.
