GARDINER — Maine Event Comedy brings laughter back to Johnson Hall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. The night will feature a new game show and stand-up comedy from Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Bryan Valencia, Connecticut’s Krystal Dyer and Boston’s Brett Johnson.

A debacle of a traveling circus turned game show, WTFD?! is hosted by Cloud (yes his name is Cloud) Morris and Brian Brinegar. The fast-paced games are designed to keep you on your toes and wishing you had some hand sanitizer. Contestants are drawn from the audience and no contestant will go home empty-handed.

Valencia has performed in over 30 states and can proudly fit in a suitcase. He worked as the head writer at Comedy Well Done and recently pioneered a campaign that uses comedy to raise support for charities. A disciplined scholar, Bryan has studied countless art forms, developing an expansive body of work reflected in unusual comparisons and quirky talents. His act teeters on the cusp of sentiment and absurdity.

Dyer endears herself to audiences throughout New England by using her quick wit and life experience to put a hilarious spin on divorce, dating in her 40s and raising boys as a single mom. She also produces a monthly show at Comix at Mohegan Sun.

Johnson’s cerebral joke writing and animated storytelling combine for an act that’s as entertaining as it is confessional. He’s known for his willingness to explore delicate subjects and expressive physicality, which he developed as a trained actor and improviser.

Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center is located at 280 Water St. Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors and may be purchased at www.johnsonhall.org. The show is for ages 21-and-older and doors open at 7 p.m.
