As Judge Brett Kavanaugh continues his confirmation process, the American people know that he is the best choice to become the next Supreme Court justice. He is a mainstream jurist whose values reflect those of the independent-minded people of Maine and he is extremely well qualified for the Supreme Court bench.

Kavanaugh has extensive experience in service to the American people. He is a two-time Yale graduate who served in the George W. Bush White House and on the D.C. Circuit, where he has written more than 300 judicial opinions. His nearly 30-year record consistently demonstrates his mainstream credentials and independent thought. He is widely respected by the legal community and has received the support of experts all across the political spectrum, who praise his qualifications and professionalism.

Kavanaugh is committed to impartiality and the rule of law, which is exactly what is expected in a justice of the Supreme Court.

I don’t believe that the people of Maine have much interest in partisan attacks and political posturing. I believe that Mainers care about fairness and principled service. Judge Kavanaugh embodies that independence and sound judgment.

With his respect for the law and commitment to protecting constitutional rights, I fully support his nomination. It is time for the Senate to come together to confirm Judge Kavanaugh for the U.S. Supreme Court.
