LEWISTON — International concert organist Gail Archer will perform the penultimate organ concert of the 2018 season at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23. Her performance will Bach, Buxtehude and Schumann, as well as contemporary composers Mary Howe and Judith Shatin.
Archer founded Musforum, an international network to promote, celebrate and affirm the work of women organists. Archer serves as college organist at Vassar College as well as director of the music program at Barnard College, Columbia University, where she conducts the Barnard-Columbia Chorus. Archer also serves as director of the artist and young organ artist recitals at historic Central Synagogue, New York City.
Concerts are free and open to the public and donations to the organ restoration project are welcome.
