LEWISTON — Dale passed in peace early Monday morning, Sept. 17, while surrounded by his loving family.

Dale was born Nov. 3, 1936, to Mildred and J. Alton Carleton, and is survived by his lifelong partner and true love, Ruthie Burns; his daughter, Barbara M. Boulet, and husband, Roland; his grandchildren, Lisa Hubbard and husband, Paul, Todd Boulet and wife, Lisa Toussaint, Jeff Boulet and wife, Maeve O’Regan, Catherine Siebert and husband, Sean; his 12 great-grandchildren will forever remember his bottomless pockets of candy that they all counted on when they saw him.

Dale was predeceased by his parents; siblings John Junior and Jeanne; and nephew, Carl Hallock. He will be remembered by nieces Julie, Martha and Stacey; and nephews Craig and John. He is also survived by several good friends.

Dale was a gifted auto mechanic and the proud owner of Carl’s Garage on Washington Street in Auburn. After he closed Carl’s, he continued to practice his services on his grandchildren’s vehicles. Services rendered were paid with bags of nuts and candy, gift cards to local restaurants, hugs and kisses and other small tokens of appreciation. He continued this business arrangement until recently. If you drove a fast car in the 1960s and were ever passed by a station wagon (like you were standing still), that was Dale. He proudly served in the United States Army.

Services will be at the United Methodist Church of Auburn at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the United Methodist Church of Auburn in his name.
