GREENE — Steve Perry, 67, of Greene passed away Monday, Sept. 17, at his home with his wife, Cheryl, by his side after a battle with cancer.

Steve was born in Lake Placid, N.Y., Sept. 15, 1951, the son of Roger and Jeannette (Pettruce) Perry. He graduated from Lake Placid Central High School. On May 16, 1981, he married Cheryl Barney, daughter of Hoover and Joyce Barney. Steve had a love for creating custom furniture, doing road trips with friends on his Harley and taking his best friend, Maggie, his Boxer, for rides with him on his Harley.

Steve served 20 years in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Intrepid from 1972 to 1975. He was stationed in Brunswick, serving in Patrol Squadron 44 from 1978 to 1983, AIMD from 1983 to 1986, Patrol Squadron 8 from 1986 to 1991 and retiring from FASO in 1995. After retiring from the Navy, Steve was employed at Woodworkers Warehouse. He later started working for Central Maine Cabinetry where he did what he loved most — build unique and beautiful cabinets.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Roger and Jeannette Perry; a sister, Laurie Perry; and his older brother, Phillip Roger Perry.

Steve is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Barney) Perry; his sister, Cathy Pelkey, of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Steve requested that donations be made to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice or Androscoggin Humane Society.
