LEWISTON — Daniel (Danny) E. Chandonnet, a resident of Webster Street in Lewiston, died suddenly on Tuesday, Sept. 25.

He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 4, 1947, a son of Ernest and Margaret (Clabby) Chandonnet Sr.

Dan was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. A proud member of the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, he received numerous medals and accommodations, including the Purple Heart.

Dan married the love of his life, Caroline (Carol) Parent, on Sept. 5, 1970. He received a Bachelor of Accounting from Husson College. An active man, he quickly determined accounting was not for him and began his career in the building industry. Dan adored his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a large presence in all their lives. One of his favorite activities was following his grandchildren’s sports careers. His last trip to North Carolina was a particular favorite.

A very generous man, Dan was a giver who took care of “everyone” around him. No job was too big (like fixing a laundry machine) or too small (like the electrical issue involving a mouse). Dan lived his life to the fullest and he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.

Dan is survived by Carol, his wife of 48 years; and his children, their spouses, and grandchildren: daughter, Melissa Farinas, and her husband, Len, their three children, Brodi, Brandon and Sophia; daughter, Jaime Leblanc, and her husband, Jesse, their two children, Grace and Noah. In addition he is survived by his siblings: Patrick Chandonnet and wife, Alice, of Texas; and four sisters, MaryEllen Couillard and husband, Leroy, of Sabattus, Eileen Chandonnet of Winthrop, Rosemary Freve and husband, Richard, of Lisbon and Susan Chandonnet of Lewiston. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
